What you’ll learn

You will learn to:

  • Explain how capital markets connect companies that need capital with investors who have it, and the difference between primary and secondary markets
  • Describe a company’s business model in terms of its segments, revenue drivers and cost drivers before analysing a single number
  • Read a full income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement line by line, and explain what each line represents
  • Calculate and interpret profitability, liquidity, leverage, cash-conversion and earnings-quality ratios, and track their trend across five years
  • Build a driver-based financial forecast, extending a historical model into a forecast income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement
  • Calculate free cash flow to the firm (FCFF) and explain every term in the formula
  • Build a company’s WACC from its components: cost of equity via CAPM, post-tax cost of debt and capital-structure weights
  • Build a full discounted cash flow valuation, including terminal value, and correctly bridge enterprise value to equity value and value per share
  • Build and read a two-variable sensitivity table, and cross-check a DCF result against comparable-company multiples
  • Explain why a bounded valuation range with stated assumptions is more honest than a single point estimate
  • Explain diversification, concentration risk and benchmarking, and how single-company research fits into a portfolio decision
  • Write a specific, falsifiable investment thesis that states supporting evidence, contrary evidence, and what would change your mind
  • Assemble a complete, professional equity research report from company overview through to a defensible valuation conclusion

Real datasets

a complete financial model for one fictional company, built from the ground up.

You work through one running case, Nivara Consumer Products Limited, using five years of financial statements, a peer-comparison dataset, a share-price history and a full forecasting and valuation model, all built from the same reconciled dataset as the videos. The company and every figure are fictional and used only for teaching.
